Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has thwarted multiple alleged attempts by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push a total of 78 people, including women and children, into Bangladesh through border points in Naogaon, Chapainawabganj and Lalmonirhat districts.According to BGB officials, the incidents occurred between yesterday and today (5 June) along several border areas, with the individuals remaining stranded near the zero line after BGB intervention, reports UNB.
In Naogaon, BGB foiled an alleged BSF push-in attempt involving 17 people through the Hapania border area in Sapahar upazila on Friday morning.According to the Naogaon 16 BGB Battalion, the incident took place around 7:30am near border pillar 238/MP.BGB sources said personnel from the BSF’s Pannachhara camp attempted to push six men, six women and five children into Bangladesh.
After receiving information, a patrol team from Hapania Border Outpost (BOP) rushed to the spot and identified the group near the zero line inside Indian territory.
Following BGB’s intervention, the push-in attempt failed and the individuals remained at the border area.
Meanwhile, 28 people remained stranded near the zero line at the Bangabari border in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj after BGB blocked another alleged push-in attempt.Lt Col Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum said BSF members from Ashrafpur camp under Battalion 12 attempted to push the group into Bangladesh through border pillar 203/6-S at around 3am yesterday.The group consists of 12 men, 10 women and six children.BGB patrol teams from Bangabari BOP resisted the attempt, leaving the individuals stranded near the zero line.Sources said a company commander-level flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF on Thursday afternoon, followed by a battalion commander-level meeting.According to BGB, BSF initially denied the push-in attempt during discussions but later acknowledged the incident at the battalion commander-level meeting.Masum said BSF informed the meeting that the matter would be referred to higher authorities and that a decision would be communicated to BGB.
